John Zimmerelli

Sales Representative, Xylem

 John has over 20 years of experience in water quality monitoring in the Chesapeake Bay region, ranging from individual sensor instrumentation to complex, turnkey telemetry systems. In his role with Xylem, a global water technology provider, he manages five Mid-Atlantic states and the District of Columbia in the sales of water quality and quantity instrumentation, flood management, and services.

Jeremy Balen & Shane Mizelle (Virtual)

Hydrologic Technicians, USGS MD-DC-DE Water Science Center

The USGS Maryland-Delaware-DC Science Center conducts water quality research and monitoring activities across the region. Their work focuses on understanding surface water and groundwater quality, as well as how water quality changes over time and in response to environmental factors. Jeremy and Shane are experts in discrete water-quality sample collection and continuous water-quality operation, as well as the resultant data analysis.

Alicia Ritzenthaler

Environmental Protection Specialist, DC Department of Energy and Environment

Alicia is responsible for the DC DOEE Rapid Stream Assessment Program, which was created to address a new stormwater permit and provide a high-level evaluation of all wadable streams in the District. The RSA Program has identified pollution sources and environmental degradation stressors, partnered with DC Water for infrastructure repair, helped to identify previously unmapped wetlands, and ground-truthed their enhanced NHD dataset.

Professional Development Hour (PDH) certificates provided for attendance.
